The objective of this certification is to improve efficiency and bring structural stability to an organization. This standard implements the quality management system, which ensures the overall sustainable growth of an organisation. Features defined by it are necessary for consistent flow of products and services to customers adhering to applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

The requirements defined in ISO 9001:2015 are generic and therefore applicable to all types of organizations including charities and voluntary sector.This ISO management system standard can also be linked and integrated with similar types of management systems on the basis of structural similarity. For example- Business Continuity Management and Energy Management can easily be aligned with it.

ISO 14001:2004

ISO 14001:2004 is a standard dedicated to Environmental Management System(EMS). It defines major guidelines and polices which assist the organization to protect environment. It includes legal and other requirements which directly fits the identified environmental aspects. However, it excludes defining specific environmental performance criteria. The organization conforming to this standard must ensure that it is not damaging the environment in any possible manner.

ISO 22000:2005

ISO 22000:2005 standard specifies all the requirements related to a Food Management System(FMS). It deals with food safety throughout the food chain including the step of final consumption. It ensures the safety of food from all types of hazards which makes it safe for human consumption. A framework of structured management system is required to operate this food safety system which ultimately brings best results for the organization.

This standard includes the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles, and assists in controlling the food safety requirements on a global level.

Maritime Labour Convention 2006

MLC is a broad international labour convention which specifies rights of seafarers. It was included in the International National Labour organization under article 19 of its constitutions together with SOLAS, STCW and MARPOL as the fourth pillar of International Maritime Law. Therefore, it aims for working as an effective tool for quality shipping. It is a concoction of a number of global standards.

The enforcement of this standard is done through national laws or some other measures which means that it cannot be directly applied to seafarers, ships or shipowners. It covers almost every essential working and living condition for seafarers.

CE Marking

CE Marking stands for a French Phrase “”Conformité Européene ” meaning “European Conformity”. Initially, the term “EC Mark” was used for it but later in 1993 under Directive 93/68/EEC, it was officially changed to “CE Marking”. This marking certifies that a product has matched all the EU standards related to health, safety and environment and therefore guarantees consumer safety. It specifically includes goods that require homologation and registration. For the conformity it is important to meet all the essential requirements listed in any relevant directives. Mainly, it consists of Protection requirements and Administration requirements.

Organic Certification

It is believed that the term ‘organic’ came into existence in 1940. It was introduced by Northbourne in the book Look to the Land where it referred to a farm with biological completeness and balanced organic life. Organic Certification can be applied to any business which directly deals with food production. The term organic is used as labeling term to certify that the product has been produced following certain approved methods. Environmentally friendly production methods are adopted for organic agriculture which help in conserving bio-diversity. The product is ensured to be safe. Certification is important as it helps to retain the credibility of the term ‘organic’.
